Event Details

Join us for a day of wonder in Anniston, AL where we will be visiting both the Berman Museum of World History and the adjacent Anniston Museum of Natural History for an afternoon of discovery.

The Berman Museum is an unusual collection of antiques, oddities and weapons collected over 40 years by an equally unusual couple - an American GI and a French spy.  The sources of many of the objects remain unclear, but among the more prominent items is a set of Hitler’s tea service.

We will then meander over to the Anniston Natural History Museum where we will tour one of the oldest taxidermy collections in the United States, with over 400 species of birds on display.  Of special interest is the museum’s collection of passenger pigeons--formerly one of the most common birds in North America.  Sadly, due to wide-scale commercial hunting and deforestation, the passenger pigeon is today extinct, but it and several other extinct species are still preserved in this small natural history museum.
